Steve and his wife, Janet, have been associated with Niños de Mexico since 1990 when they moved to Mexico with their girls. Steve served as the Field Director from 1990 until 2002. He and Janet served as houseparents in the Esperanza house when it opened in early 1997 until January of 2002.
Following their time at Niños, they returned to the St. Louis area. Steve served as the Associate Minister of Administration at First Christian Church of Florissant for 10 years. During that time, Steve and Janet led groups from the church to Niños.
In 2012 the Niños board called Steve to come back and serve as the Executive Director of the mission. Janet has served during this time as the Intern Coordinator, HUGS correspondance and assisting with STM groups.
David Hernandez joined our staff as the Field Director in September of 2012. David had a variety of experiences in the business world and the government working with the Mexican Social Security system for 14 years, and in a variety of ministry roles over the past 20 years. He and his wife Maribel had worked for a year with Niños as substitute houseparents in the 90s.
We believe that God has uniquely prepared him to help us minister effectively to the children in our care.
Mick O’Hanahan is Niños de México’s Development Director and also coordinates the Work Group Scheduling. Mick and his wife, Lisa, along with their two daughters, Rebecca and Sarah, moved to Mexico from Carl Junction, Missouri in August 2001. They served on staff in various capacities in Mexico until July 2004 when they moved back to Carl Junction.
Mick travels all over the U.S. raising friends for Niños de México. He also oversees the FUNdraising events that Niños is involved in to raise support for the work. Mick would enjoy coming and visiting your church or organization regarding the ministry of Niños de México. Please contact him if you would like to plan a fundraiser or have him come speak.
Crystal came to work for Niños in 1992 as a part-time office secretary. Through the years, she has covered various office responsibilities and now serves as the Office Administrator.
Crystal and her husband, Roger, minister at the St. Clair Christian Church in Missouri. They have three children; all graduates of Johnson University and serving in ministries in Illinois, Missouri, and Georgia. Crystal and Roger particularly enjoy their role of “Grandpa & Grandma”!
Crystal believes in the vital ministry of Niños de México and considers it a privilege to serve the Lord by being a part of this team that is bringing the Gospel to the children and people of Mexico. She welcomes your calls, questions, and requests at the Union office.
Nancy Sachs is the Office Administrative Assistant at Niños’ U.S. Office in Union, Missouri. She also helps coordinate the HUGS sponsors and correspondence that is sent to and from Mexico. She is married to George and they have two sons, Steve and Mike, and one daughter, Stephanie.
