To Help You Pray

The following information is provided through the eyes of our field staff to help you focus your prayers around current events at Niños de Mexico.

September, 2012

Pray With Us…

1. Pray for the new kids as they adapt to their new homes, houseparents, and the kids already in the homes.

2. Pray for the staff as we minister to all of the children. May God grant us wisdom, understanding and direction every day.

3. Pray for the young people who are transitioning into a dorm setting with additional independence and responsibilities.

4. Pray for God’s continued financial provision to accomplish the goals and dreams that we are working toward.

5. Pray that each child will know Christ fully and will live their life according to His plan.

June 5, 2012: Executive Director Transition

Executive Director Transition – June 2012

  •  Thank you for keeping Seth Thomas and his family in your prayers as he completes his work as the Executive Director of Niños de Mexico. He and Dana have served the Lord and the ministry faithfully for 10 years. We are so appreciative of their work and service to the children of Niños. They have worked in many different roles through the years. Seth and his family will be headed to Grand Junction Colorado this weekend to begin a new ministry there.
  • Please also lift up Steve Ross as he becomes the Executive Director this week. Lift up Steve and Janet as there are many things to learn about the ministry both in the US and in Mexico. They just finished their work at First Christian Church of Florissant Missouri on Sunday with a Mexican celebration. They had served there for 10 1/2 years after having served at Niños almost 12 years before that.

November 10, 2011:  Casa Esperanza
Special moment:

  • Emilio and Josue recently mentioned Marilu cared for them like a mother.

Spiritual teaching moment:

  • The children mention they appreciate we take the time to pray together as a family.  We never start our prayers until all the children have arrived.

Prayer needs and praises:

  • We are grateful for our partners in the USA.  We are thankful they sacrifice to send money so we have food at our table.

November 4, 2011:  Casa Bethel
Special moment:

  •  We wait for the teenagers to get home late from work to talk with them and share a bonding time.  They appreciate it a great deal!

Touching or funny moment:

  • We are building a fence around the garden so the soccer balls do not go near the trees and hurt the plants.  But Jose Manuel and Ivan started a race and Ivan forgot about the fence and crashed into it.

Spiritual teaching moment:

  • We are praying for the children and teenagers to have a better relationship and we are seeing results.  The older boys are hanging out more with the younger children.  It is good for them to be able to understand the concept and value of family.

A birthday or celebration:

  • There was a “get together” at Casa Genesis and it was a great time to hang out with the children and staff from the other homes.

Prayer needs and praises:

  • Please pray for Jesus Enrique while he continues to study at the Bible College in Piedras Negras, Mexico.

November 3, 2011:  Casa Genesis
Special moment:

  • We received a fruit and vegetables donation from a large market in Mexico City.  The house parents took the time to separate the fresh fruit and vegetables to share with all the Niños homes.

Spiritual teaching moment:

  • We have been reading about how we need to appreciate what has been given to us and we need to learn to share it with others that do not have.  There is always someone in greater need than us that we can help.

A birthday or celebration:

  • Karla Isamar turned 18.  She is now an “adult” and we are thankful for her life!

Prayer needs and praises:

  • Please pray for some of the girls who are sick with the flu:  Maria de Jesus, Liliana, Fatima.
  • Please pray for wisdom for the house parents to meet the special needs and guide Fatima and Maria de Jesus.

November 3, 2011:  Casa Agape
Touching or funny moment:

  • The children enjoyed playing on the rented trampoline at the school party.

Spiritual teaching moment:

  • Our devotions have focused on being grateful to God and trusting in Him.

A birthday or celebration:

  • We celebrated Marcos Luna’s birthday with cake and presents.

Prayer needs and praises:

  • Please pray for Alfredo’s recovery from arm surgery.
  • Please pray for strength, encouragement, and unity among our staff as we work together as a team.

October 31, 2011:  Medical Clinic
Medical Needs:

  • There is a high rate of alcoholism in the village of Chilapa.  Therein lies an imminent need for a rehabilitation program.
  • Many women in Chilapa suffer from depression.  There is a lack of job opportunities in Chilapa and so the men leave the village for the cities to find jobs.  They leave their wives alone and sometimes do not return at all.

Touching or funny moment:

  • The need in Chilapa is great and there are plenty of patients to attend to.  However, the children are often afraid of the doctor because the parents tell them if they do not behave they will be taken to the doctor.  One child, Sahid, from Chilapa, recently told Dr. Noe, “Doctor, I am grown up, and I am not afraid of you anymore.”

Something interesting:

  • During the October visit there were baptisms and a great time of fellowship.  The church members made tamales to share.  Some of the children went swimming in the pools (for trout farms) even though it was very cold.

Prayer needs and praises:

  • Pray for the new Christians.
  • Pray for leadership in the church in Chilapa to serve and spread the Gospel.
  • Pray for many in Chilapa to come to know Jesus and for some to seek further training in the Bible colleges in Mexico and return to serve in the village.
