Niños eNews Update

November 20th, 2007

Many young people in Mexico do not have the opportunity to go to college and study for a career. They may never have the chance to train for a profession that interests them and uses their talents. They will struggle to find jobs to support themselves and their families. At Niños de Mexico, we encourage all of our kids to pursue college or technical school. We want them to have the tools to provide for themselves and their families in the future. We hope that they will be able to find rewarding professions and see them as a ministry.

Some Niños Alumni have gone on to become doctors, ministers, lawyers, educators, professors, beauticians, etc. So many areas in which God can use them to leave his fingerprints on people’s lives! We currently have ten students in college or technical school. Marcos, Ricardo P., and Jesús are in Bible college. Marcela is studying at John Brown University. Victor, Oreb and Claudia are studying at universities in Mexico. Maycol and Salvador are in technical school. David is currently working on a license in architecture at one of his school’s satellite programs in Canada. These students are studying everything from Biblical Studies to Gastronomy to Computer Technical support. We are excited for them to be pursuing their interests and working toward a profession. What a privilege to see them come from the most humble and hopeless circumstances and transform into young people with goals and the opportunities to reach their dreams!

Please encourage and support these students in prayer. Pray for them to grow in wisdom in order to make good choices for their future, to take their studies seriously and make a good effort. Pray for those working in internships and other work-study programs, that God will give them good contacts for future job opportunities. Pray for them to look for ministry opportunities right now in their schools, as well as in their future professions. Pray for Niños to be able to provide the emotional and financial support they need.

Please celebrate and pray for our future graduates in December 2007 and January 2008:

Oreb – degree in Communications
Marcela – degree in Graphic Design
Claudia – degree in Business Administration

God bless you each for your love and support of the ministry of Niños de México!

Focus on Education - Niños School

Several years ago, the staff of Niños de Mexico began to be concerned about the education our children were receiving in the local public schools. The schools were poorly funded, unorganized, and the quality of education was decreasing every year.

But even more importantly, our children were being damaged emotionally and spiritually in the schools. Some teachers rejected or humiliated our children because of their status. Satanic cults, drug and alcohol abuse, and other dangers were tempting them. God laid these situations on the staff’s hearts and gave them the desire and courage to start our own school.

The PELPA school was started in September of 1998. [Read more →]

Dr. Noe Leaves Hospital

October 12th, 2007

Thank you for your continued prayer for Dr. Noe Flores. On Monday, October 8, the doctors did a CAT scan on Dr. Noe and did not find any more tumors. He was able to come home from the hospital on Tuesday, October 9. This week he has continued to rest and has visited specialists to begin various tests to verify that the cancer is gone. These tests will continue over the next few weeks to determine the next course of action (possibly chemotherapy).

Keep praying for our dear brother and his family!

Update on Dr. Noe Flores

October 7th, 2007

We mentioned in our last update that Dr. Noé Flores became ill with stomach pain on Saturday, September 29. He was admitted to the hospital early on the morning of September 30 and had surgery later that day to remove a section of his colon. A biopsy was done on the removed section, and the test results came back today (October 7). The tumor that was removed was judged to be malignant.

Dr. Noe is recovering from surgery in the hospital. He is able to walk and is in pretty good spirits. He should be able to go home from the hospital on Monday or Tuesday. Meanwhile, they will be running more tests to determine if all the cancer was removed during the last procedure.

We would appreciate your prayers of healing for our faithful brother.

God bless you,

The Family of Niños de México
