Short-Term Mission Trip Hosts & Hospitality

General Purpose/Summary Statement:

The STM Host position exists to coordinate and oversee the visitation of groups of Niños’ friends to the ministry site (in Mexico) in order to achieve ministry stated ends (mission, vision, and core values).  May perform other related tasks that are part of the ministry’s operation.  This position is designed for a married Christian couple.

Supervises:

Any/all STM visitors to Niños’ ministry site in Mexico; cleaning/cooking personnel; any national contractors utilized for group projects.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  1. Host STM groups in Mexico.
  2. Plan and cover transportation for groups from the moment they clear airport customs upon arrival to the moment they clear airport security upon departure.  Includes airport trips, cultural outings, home visits, emergency trips to the clinic, etc.
  3. Arrange and coordinate housing utilizing the ministry site group rooms.  Includes confirming the rooms are prepared for arriving guests.
  4. Coordinate money transfers from U.S. to Mexico through office administrators in both countries.  Cash checks or use company ATM card for withdrawels related to STM trips.
  5. Arrange and cover meals.  Includes purchasing necessary food, etc. in advance for the week’s meals, as well as restaurant visits.
  6. In advance, plan and coordinate purchasing of materials for work projects for each group.  These are typically maintenance or light construction projects based on abilities of group.
  7. Oversee the completion of work project (or phase) each week.
  8. Complete monthly expense reports based on money transfers to Mexico, group related expenses, etc. to be completed and sent (via email) to the U.S. office administrator.
  9. Attends training seminars and staff meetings on a regular (minimum monthly) basis and in a prompt manner.
  10. Helps develop and implement strategies and budgets related to maximizing the impact of the ministry.
  11. Interacts with staff in a professional and ethical manner.
  12. Commits to a full-time, 45-50 hour per week schedule.
  13. Participates in supervision and training with openness to learning and receiving feedback, from both the Field Director and Executive Director.

Character/Spiritual:

Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ; maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Niños; adheres to the Standard of Moral Conduct and Statement of Faith; upholds Niños’ ministry in prayer; demonstrates behaviors aligned with Niños’ core values.

  1. Has a passion for serving underprivileged children and reaching the lost in Mexico.
  2. “We could if” versus “We can’t because” approach to problem solving.
  3. Ability to sort through traditional or historic ministry approaches or stated limitations and develop new and creative ways to solve problems and meet needs of new and existing principals.
  4. Creativity, imagination, team-oriented, and ability to influence others.
