INEA

INEA

INEA (INSTITUTO NACIONAL PARA LA EDUCACIÓN DE LOS ADULTOS- National Institute for the Education of Adults) is a program that Mexico has in order to ‘certify’ that someone has the knowledge needed to pass Elementary and Middle School. We here at Niños de Mexico give these tests to our children so they can be ‘legally’ certified in the area of education. Recently we sat down to talk to our IBAAN (Bilingual School of Niños de Mexico) school director Hno. Eduardo Zamora in order to better explain to our supporters what INEA is and why it is important for our students to be certified in this program.

Why do we use INEA at IBAAN?
It is a system for people who cannot use regular school because of some reason or another. It is an open system. Some of the children we receive are 6-10 years old and have almost no education. We begin to educate them so they can be certified in the primary school system. First we give each child a diagnostic test. This test will let us know where the student is in their education. There are 12 books that teach the students what they must know in order to pass certification courses for primary. If the student is able to pass everything in one book..then they go to the next. This continues until the student is prepared to take the 3 main exams needed to pass for Primary School certification. After that they begin Secondary school and must pass 2 exams in Secondary in order to signify that they are ready to enter PREPA (High School, more or less). They are tested over Spanish, Math, Natural Science, and Social Science.
Once the Students have passed the main exams they receive official documents from the department of education that certify that the student has completed the required exam and passed. It goes into their governmental file (folio). The document is signed by the government.
