It is with much pride that I write you today about our high school students. In August 2008, we enrolled 17 high school students in a private school just a 10-minute drive from our main home. This was not an easy or inexpensive decision. Even with a 25% discount, due to the number of students we have enrolled, it still costs Niños de México about $150 dollars per month to educate each of our students at this school. With 17 students, this adds up to $2,550 dollars per month or $30,600 dollars per year for high school educational expenses.
A few days ago I was contacted by Daniel Coss, the Director of the private school PrepaNET. He wanted to congratulate us. The school offers yearly 50% scholarships to students with a GPA between 90% and 95.9%. 75% scholarships are given to students with a GPA of 96% or higher. The highest GPA in the school is awarded a 100% scholarship.
At this point I want to mention the GPAs of several of our students:
Diana Gallegos, 97%
Daniel Gallegos, 96%
Elvis López, 96%
Laura Castañón, 94%
Karina Castañón, 94%
Liliana Castañón, 92%
Mario Paredes, 91%
Jesús Padilla, 91%
I am so proud of these (8) eight students as well as the other eleven who are working so hard, ‘hechandole ganas’, to finish their high school studies. Would you say a special prayer for our young people? Please pray God would give them strength and wisdom to be light to the other students, teachers, and administrators. Pray that God would guide them in their studies that they might understand and retain the information they study in classes. Pray that God would be preparing them for university studies after high school.
Thank you for your support and making this good news possible.
Serving the Savior, south of the border,
Seth
