As in most Mexican schools, our high school program is for grades ten through twelve. Niños has adapted and uses the “Open School” curriculum published by the Mexican government and designed to educate adults who wish to receive education. The students have a series of workbooks in each of the major subjects. They work at their own pace with goals to complete each day. At designated times during the year they take government tests at a local testing facility. Once they pass each test, they keep advancing until they receive their high school diploma.

The results at this time are not what we would like to see for our children. They are struggling to pass their tests and are becoming frustrated with what seems to be a flawed system. We have addressed these issues through various methods with private tutors and more one-on-one teaching. This has not been very successful, not even with the more advanced students. After much prayer and investigating we have found a new private school 10 minutes from the Genesis property. They have confirmed a scholarship for our students to help lower the cost. The students will begin studying there August 2008. Please be in prayer that this school will help our children thrive in their academic endeavors and they will be able to turn from any temptations that would derail their faith in Christ.
